KMZ Industries starts installing equipment at Ukraine’s first soybean protein concentrate plant
KMZ Industries has begun installing equipment at the construction site of Ukraine’s first plant for producing soybean protein concentrate, the company’s press service reported.
This is the company’s largest project in 2025, involving the manufacture and installation of 20 custom-designed silos for the storage and shipment of the processed product, with a total capacity of 7,000 m³.
“The request for equipment supply for the new plant, along with a general concept, came to KMZ Industries back in February 2023. It surprised many with its deviation from standard solutions — but that only made it more exciting. In 2024, close cooperation with the client’s team encouraged us to generate various technical solutions in search of the optimal one. In total, six fundamentally different concepts for the soybean protein concentrate storage facility were considered,” said Roman Shtelmakh, Director of Customer Service at KMZ Industries.
According to him, after choosing the final option, designers, engineers, and technologists worked together to agree on structural requirements, specific features, and equipment design.
As part of the project, the company is manufacturing and installing:
-
16 silos for storing soybean protein concentrate;
-
2 silos for shipment by rail;
-
1 silo for shipment by road;
-
1 silo for packaging into big bags.
The deep soybean processing and soybean protein concentrate plant project was announced in 2021 with an initial cost of $50 million, which is now estimated at about $60 million, taking inflation into account. The investment will be spread over three years — the current year and the next two. The plant in Globyno is expected to produce up to 100,000 tons of concentrated soybean protein annually.
