Ukraine resumes soybean meal exports to Egypt after nearly two years
In August, Ukraine resumed soybean meal shipments to Egypt, with 18,500 tons exported over four weeks, APK-Inform reported, citing preliminary data.
According to the agency, this was the first delivery since January 2024 and also marked the largest monthly volume ever for this destination. Previously, sporadic shipments of soybean meal to Egypt did not exceed 3,000–5,500 tons.
Typically, Egypt prioritizes soybean imports, ranking among the world’s top five importers of the crop, and processes the beans into meal domestically, analysts noted.
In the current season, Ukraine has not only nearly doubled soybean meal exports compared to 2023/24 but also significantly expanded its export geography, shipping the product to 37 countries versus 26 in the previous season.
