Crushers in Ukraine process record 250,000 t of rapeseed in September. EU countries lead in oil imports
As of September 2025, crushing plants in Ukraine a record 250,000 tons of rapeseed, producing around 120,000 tons of rapeseed oil, according to the UkrOilProm association. The EU countries were the main importers, including the Netherlands, Belgium, Spain, and Poland.
In September 2025 alone, Ukrainian processors handled 250,000 tons of rapeseed and produced approximately 120,000 tons of oil. The EU accounted for the bulk of exports — 92,000 tons — with the Netherlands purchasing 29,000 tons, Belgium 15,500 tons, Spain 14,400 tons, and Poland 13,500 tons.
The 2025/26 processing season began in July. In July–August, around 60,000 tons of rapeseed were processed, resulting in 25,000 tons of oil produced and exported.
The sharp rise in processing in September followed the introduction of a 10% export duty on rapeseed. Oil output reached 120,000 tons, with 108,800 tons exported for a total of $121.9 million. Compared to September 2024, export volumes increased 2.8–3.3 times, while the average price rose to $1,120.4/t, up $171.4/t year-on-year.
Beyond the EU, 16,800 tons of oil were shipped to other destinations, including 13,900 tons to Singapore.
