Growers plant nearly half of winter crops. Winter rapeseed campaign completed in 13 regions

As of October 7, growers in Ukraine have sown 3.5 million hectares of winter crops — 47.4% of the planned area, according to the Ministry of Economy. On the reporting date last year, winter crops planting approached 70%.

The breakdown is as follows:

  • winter wheat — 2.3 million ha (49.1% of the plan);
  • winter barley — 179.2 thousand ha (31.1%);
  • winter rye — 45.7 thousand ha (66%).

Kirovohrad, Mykolaiv and Poltava regions lead in sowing progress.

As for winter rapeseed, 985.3 thousand ha have been planted, or 88.4% of the target area. Vinnytsia, Khmelnytskyi and Mykolaiv regions show the largest areas, while farmers in 13 regions have already completed rapeseed sowing.
