A berry freezing plant to be built in Kyiv region

Goldberry plans to establish its own berry freezing facility in Kyiv region, said the company’s head, Volodymyr Chornobai, as reported by the Ukrainian Berries Association.

“Our current focus is building our own processing infrastructure — a stationary freezing facility based on tunnel technology, using berries grown on our own fields. We plan to launch a small plant capable of processing 1,000–2,000 tons of berries per year, and eventually expand to a large enterprise with a capacity of up to 60 tons per day, fully supplied with our own raw materials,” Chornobai said.

The company is also considering building irrigation systems covering up to 1,000 hectares within the next five years to ensure stable yields and high-quality berry raw material.

“At the same time, we are preparing for Global G.A.P. certification, while our partners — who have been handling our processing and freezing — are certified under HACCP and BRC systems. This ensures food safety and quality control from cultivation to processing and delivery to the client,” the company head added.

This season, Goldberry entered export markets for the first time, shipping 40 tons of strawberries and preparing another 100 tons of frozen raspberries for export through partner facilities.

“This is the first but important step towards international markets,” said Chornobai.
