Growers in Ukraine harvest 37.6 MMT of new grain crop, corn collected from one-third of sown area

As of 23 October, over 37.6 million tons of grain crops have been harvested on 8.4 million hectares, according to the Ministry of Economy. The campaign has been completed on 73% of the sown area.

In particular, the following have been collected:

  • Wheat — 22.8 million tons from 5.05 million ha, with an average yield of 4.51 t/ha.
  • Barley — 5.37 million tons from 1.35 million ha, with an average yield of 3.97 t/ha.
  • Peas — 662,300 tons from 271,500 ha, with an average yield of 2.44 t/ha.
  • Corn — 7.71 million tons from 1.31 million ha, which accounts for 31% of the sown area. The average yield stands at 5.89 t/ha.

Other grains and pulses — 876,700 tons from 317,600 ha.

The leading regions in terms of grain harvest include:

  • Odesa region — 3.80 million tons from 1.14 million ha.
  • Poltava region — 2.86 million tons from 603,300 ha.
  • Khmelnytskyi region — 2.55 million tons from 365,200 ha.
  • Chernihiv region — 2.52 million tons from 407,700 ha.

As of the reporting date, oilseed crops have been harvested from 14.6 million tons in total, including:

  • Sunflower — 7.84 million tons from 4.24 million ha, with an average yield of 1.85 t/ha.
  • Soybeans — 3.50 million tons from 1.52 million ha, with an average yield of 2.31 t/ha.
  • Rapeseed — 3.32 million tons from 1.28 million ha, with an average yield of 2.6 t/ha.

Overall, sunflower has been harvested from 82% of the sown area, soybeans from 70%, and the rapeseed harvest has been completed.

As for sugar beets, 5.64 million tons have been dug from 108,100 ha, accounting for 55% of the sown area.
