Lebanon becomes key buyer of Ukrainian sugar in 2025/26

In the first three months of the 2025/26 marketing year, Ukraine exported 116.1 thousand tons of beet sugar, 95% of which was shipped to the global market, according to the Ukrsugar association.
Countries in the Middle East and the Western Balkans were the main buyers of Ukrainian sugar in September–November 2025:
- Lebanon — 37% of export volume
- Syria — 18%
- North Macedonia — 8%
- Bosnia and Herzegovina — 7%
- UAE — 7%
As of early November, 26 sugar plants produced 880 thousand tons of sugar, 100 thousand tons less than on the same date last year.
