Crushers lacked at least 2 million tons of sunflower seeds this season — Spike Brokers

In the 2025/26 season, processors have received at least 2 million tons less sunflower seeds than expected, which will significantly complicate plant operations and intensify the situation on the international market due to an oversupply of processed products, according to Spike Brokers.

According to the brokers, the sunflower harvest can be considered complete, with total output at around 9 million tons versus the expected 11 million tons.

Sunflower oil prices at six Northern European ports increased by €20 compared to last week, reaching $1,350 by the end of the week.

In the Turkish direction, offers rose to $1,315–1,320 CIF Mersin/Iskenderun.

Oil and meal for shipment through Odesa ports traded with no major changes at $1,230–1,240, while sunflower meal stood at $220/225 (bulk/pellet).

Demand for sunflower seeds has begun to grow from processing plants, which immediately reflected in procurement prices. The spot index price for sunflower seeds for delivery to processors within 30 days increased by $9, including VAT, to $699.
