Nestlé to expand capacity of its new factory in Western Ukraine over the next two years

The production capacity of the first line at Nestlé’s new factory in Volyn region will allow the company to produce 5,000 tons of vermicelli by the end of the year. Capacity will be expanded throughout 2026 and 2027, according to EPravda.

“Today we have a powerful combination: production competencies, the expertise of our people, and the synergy between our factories in Kharkiv and Volyn. The Kharkiv factory continues to operate, and we truly value the craftsmanship of its team. The best specialists are contributing to the development of the Smolyhiv factory, sharing their experience and helping us maintain high production standards,” the company said.

The new facility is fully automated — production processes are organized so that operators interact with the machines but do not come into direct contact with the product.

The factory is also equipped with solar power plants with a capacity of 1,300 kW, which cover on average around 20% of its electricity needs depending on weather conditions. On sunny days, the solar panels can fully meet the plant’s energy demand.

Nestlé notes that the key ingredients for producing vermicelli — wheat and sunflower oil — are sourced from Ukraine.

“This is the first major brand that does not use palm oil in vermicelli production. Instead, we rely solely on high-quality Ukrainian high-oleic sunflower oil. Seventy-five percent of raw materials come from local suppliers in Ukraine. Only Ukrainian flour and high-quality sunflower oil are used in the production,” the company added.
