Ukraine’s sunflower harvest may be 1–1.5 million tons higher than official figures

Ukraine’s official sunflower harvest stands at 9 million tons. However, some small farmers are not required to submit production reports, and according to various estimates, they may have harvested an additional 1–1.5 million tons, Spike Brokers analysts say.

As a result, Ukraine’s actual sunflower output could reach 10–10.5 million tons.

In international markets, sunflower oil prices are declining. In Northern European ports, prices fell by $28 week on week and stood at $1,322 per ton at the end of last week.

In the Turkish direction, offer prices are holding at $1,315–1,320 per ton CIF Mersin/Iskenderun, while bid prices remain at $1,300–1,305 per ton.

In Odesa, sunflower oil and meal were also trading lower:

  • sunflower oil — $1,225–1,235 per ton,
  • sunflower meal — $220–225 per ton (bulk/pellets).

Processing plants are gradually reducing activity ahead of the New Year and Christmas holidays.

The spot sunflower price index for delivery to crushing plants within 30 days declined by $13 (including VAT) to $686 per ton.
