Odesa Port still without restored power, operating on generators — Ukrzaliznytsia

The situation in deep-water ports remains challenging following Russia’s attack on energy infrastructure in Odesa region. Odesa Port continues to operate on generators, a representative of Ukrzaliznytsia said during a meeting on improving rail transportation of agricultural cargoes.

“There is a difficult situation with power supply. Ports are starting to receive electricity, except for Odesa Port. At this stage, there is no information on when power supply will be restored there or what limits will be provided. All stevedoring companies at Odesa Port are operating on generators,” the Ukrzaliznytsia representative noted.

According to Valerii Tkachov, Deputy Director of the Commercial Operations Department at Ukrzaliznytsia, during the blackout, the delivery of grain trains to ports was minimal, at just 5–7 trains per day. He also added that on Sunday, the ports operated for only five hours throughout the entire day.

Currently, more than 11,000 railcars loaded with grain are heading toward the ports of Big Odesa.
