On Monday, January 5, Russia struck a Bunge plant in the city of Dnipro, Mayor Borys Filatov reported in his Telegram channel.

According to him, as a result of a drone attack, about 300 tons of vegetable oil spilt onto the roads of Dnipro. Municipal services are carrying out cleanup operations, spreading sand and absorbent mixtures, but traffic along the street is expected to remain closed for approximately two to three days.

“Russians hit AMERICAN-owned property, because the plant belongs to Bunge, a company based in St. Louis, Missouri. Tell the world about this,” Filatov wrote.

In Ukraine, Bunge owns an export port terminal and an oilseed crushing plant in Mykolaiv, an oilseed crushing plant in Dnipro, as well as three grain elevators located in different regions of the country. In October, Bunge submitted a request to the Antimonopoly Committee of Ukraine seeking approval to acquire the Vinnytsia Oil and Fat Plant owned by ViOil. The company is also the producer of the Oleina brand.
