Ukraine to increase rapeseed oil exports 2.7x — UCAB
Ukraine is expected to export 576 thousand tons of rapeseed oil in the 2025/26 marketing year, which is 2.7 times higher than last season, according to the Ukrainian Agribusiness Club.
The increase in exports is driven by the rapid development of domestic rapeseed processing. Following the introduction of export duties on raw materials, processing volumes and domestic consumption in the new season are estimated at 1.5 million tons, 2.6 times higher year-on-year.
Despite a decline in the harvest, rapeseed oil production is showing strong growth. In the 2025/26 MY, it may reach 582 thousand tons, which is 2.6 times higher than the previous season. For comparison, only 221 thousand tons were produced in the 2024/25 MY, UCAB notes.
The decline in production is attributed to both reduced acreage and lower yields. Rapeseed planting area totalled 1.3 million hectares (-2.4% y/y), while yields fell to 2.6 t/ha (-8% y/y). As a result, the total harvest is expected to reach 3.2 million tons, down 10.1% compared to last year.
At the same time, domestic consumption of rapeseed oil in Ukraine remains minimal — at around 4–6 thousand tons per year. The bulk of production is exported.
The EU and Asian countries are expected to remain the key export destinations. Meanwhile, rapeseed exports are projected to decline 1.8-fold to 1.8 million tons, indicating a shift from raw material exports toward higher value-added products.
