Over 460,000 ha sown with spring crops as 20 regions begin planting campaign

As of March 31, growers in 20 regions of Ukraine have started sowing spring crops. So far, 8% of the forecasted area under grains and pulses has been sown, totalling more than 461,000 hectares:

  • 52.6 thousand ha of spring wheat;
  • 245.8 thousand ha of spring barley;
  • 109.5 thousand ha of peas;
  • 49.2 thousand ha of oats.

According to the Ministry of Economy, the largest areas have been sown so far in Odesa and Mykolaiv regions — 86.4 thousand ha and 58 thousand ha, respectively.

Sowing of industrial crops has also begun:

  • 12.8 thousand ha of sugar beet — in Volyn, Lviv, Rivne, and Ternopil regions;
  • 1.2 thousand ha of sunflower — in Rivne region;
  • 0.05 thousand ha of soybeans — in Lviv region.

In total, the area under spring crops is forecast at 6 million hectares (2025: 6.1 million ha).
