The 2026 harvest campaign has begun in the southern districts of Odesa region, where growers have started harvesting winter barley and peas, according to Odesa Region Governor Oleg Kiper.
This year, agricultural producers in Odesa region are expected to harvest grain and leguminous crops from nearly 770,000 hectares.
Winter and spring wheat traditionally account for the largest share of planted areas, covering more than 522,000 hectares. Barley occupies almost 176,000 hectares, peas around 74,400 hectares, while rapeseed was planted on more than 175,000 hectares.
According to Kiper, the first harvest results indicate good yields, which “allow for an optimistic assessment of the prospects for this year’s harvesting campaign.”
