Top buyers of Ukrainian grain in 2025/26 marketing year named

Turkey, Egypt and Italy were the largest importers of Ukrainian grain in the 2025/26 marketing year, with Turkey posting the biggest increase in purchases and accounting for nearly one-fifth of Ukraine's total grain exports, according to the Agrodigest Monthly Changes in Ukraine's Agricultural Trade report.

Turkey imported 7.03 million tons of Ukrainian grain during the season, representing 19.1% of total exports. Shipments to the country increased by 1.28 million tons compared with the previous marketing year.

Egypt ranked second, importing 4.74 million tons, or 12.9% of Ukraine's grain exports, up 882,000 tons year-on-year.

Italy was the third-largest buyer with 4.04 million tons (11.0%), followed by Algeria with 2.93 million tons (8.0%) and Spain with 2.60 million tons (7.1%).

The top 10 importers of Ukrainian grain also included Indonesia, the Netherlands, Tunisia, Israel and Yemen.

By individual crop, Egypt was the largest buyer of Ukrainian wheat, importing 3.86 million tons, or 27.6% of total wheat exports. Algeria ranked second with 2.78 million tons, followed by Indonesia with 2.07 million tons.

China was the leading destination for Ukrainian barley exports, purchasing 487,100 tons (32.8%), ahead of Turkey with 297,000 tons (20.0%) and Libya with 229,600 tons (15.5%).

Turkey was also the largest importer of Ukrainian corn, buying 6.46 million tons, or 30.4% of total corn exports. Italy ranked second with 3.79 million tons, followed by Spain with 1.93 million tons.
