MHP seeks over $20 million to build 2,500-cow dairy farm in Ukraine
MHP plans to build a modern dairy farm for 2,500 dairy cows in Ukraine's Vinnytsia region, featuring a biogas-powered cogeneration unit. The total project investment is estimated at $26.1 million, according to the Ukraine Investment Catalogue 2026.
According to the project presentation, the farm will produce 28,500 tons of raw milk annually, while the biogas cogeneration unit will generate 500 MWh of electricity. The project also includes the implementation of modern livestock management systems. Once operational, the facility will produce electricity from biogas generated from livestock waste.
Of the total project budget, $5.2 million will be financed by MHP, while the company is seeking $20.9 million through equity or project financing.
A feasibility study has already been approved, and the land plot is owned by the company. Construction is expected to take approximately 18 months, with the farm scheduled to begin operations in 2028.
According to MHP's estimates, during its first full year of operation, the project could generate $11.9 million in revenue and $6.6 million in EBITDA. The projected payback period is 7.2 years, while the estimated internal rate of return (IRR) is 23%.
MHP said the new facility will become part of its vertically integrated production model, covering the entire value chain from grain cultivation and feed production to milk production. The company currently operates 18 dairy farms across three regions of Ukraine.
