MHP plans to power oilseed processing and feed plants with husk-fired green electricity
MHP plans to raise $16.8 million to build a 10 MW cogeneration plant in Vinnytsia region. The project has been included in the Ukraine Investment Catalogue 2026, presented at the Ukraine Recovery Conference 2026 (URC2026) in Gdańsk, Poland, Forbes Ukraine reported.
The total investment is estimated at $21.1 million. MHP intends to contribute $4.3 million of its own funds while raising the remaining $16.8 million through project financing or equity investment.
The cogeneration plant will be fueled by sunflower husks and is expected to generate 233 GWh of green electricity annually. The electricity will be used to supply MHP's nearby oilseed crushing and feed production facilities, while surplus power will be sold on the wholesale electricity market.
According to the investment catalogue, the company has completed the project's feasibility study and secured a land lease. The next stages include equipment selection and preparation of the project documentation.
The cogeneration plant is scheduled to become operational in 2029. The project is expected to deliver an internal rate of return (IRR) of 18.4%.
