Odesa region plans corn processing plant with annual capacity of nearly 200,000 tons

Biostarch Technologies plans to build a corn deep-processing complex with an annual capacity of 198,000 tons in Odesa region. An environmental impact assessment (EIA) procedure has been initiated for the project.

According to the planned activity notice, the facility will be located within an existing industrial park. The complex will include facilities for receiving, cleaning, drying, storing and processing corn using wet milling technology, as well as for producing and packaging finished products.

The plant’s designed capacity will be 600 tons of corn per day, or 198,000 tons per year. The facility is expected to produce 139,300 tons of corn starch annually, as well as corn gluten, corn germ, dry extract and pelleted feed. The elevator will have a total storage capacity of 36,400 tons.

Wet milling has been selected as the main processing technology. It involves soaking the grain and separating starch, protein, germ and fibre, followed by the production of deep-processed corn products.
