Ukrainian agrarians threshed 35.5 million tons of grain — Harvest Online

The harvesting campaign of the early grain crops in Ukraine is at the final stage. As of August 11, 2017, the Ukrainian agrarians threshed 35.5 million tons of grain on the of area of 9.2 million hectares or 95% of the total harvested area. This data was announced in the framework of the joint project by Latifundist.com and AGCO Harvest Online 2017.

The average yield of threshed grain amounted to 3.84 tons/ha (in 2016 the average yield amounted to 3.92 tons/ha).

More detailed information on the harvest campaign (by crops) is as follows:

  • wheat — 6.1 million hectares out of 6.4 million hectares were harvested, which constitutes 96%, 25.3 million tons of grain were threshed, with an average yield of 4.14 tons/ha (in 2016 — 4.26 tons/ha);
  • barley — 2.4 million hectares out of 2.5 million hectares were harvested, which constitutes 97%, 8.3 million tons of grain were threshed, with a yield of 3.39 tons/ha (in 2016 — 3.41 tons/ha);
  • rye — 135 thousand hectares out of 169 thousand hectares were harvested, which constitutes 80%, 391 thousand tons of grain were threshed, with an average yield of 2.89 tons/ha (in 2016 — 2.69 tons/ha);
  • oats — 104 thousand hectares out of 198 thousand hectares were harvested, which constitutes 52%, 279 thousand tons of grain were threshed, with an average yield of 2.69 tons/ha (in 2016 — 2.56 tons/ha);
  • peas — 408 thousand hectares out of 410 thousand hectares were harvested, which constitutes 99%, 1.1 million tons of pulses were threshed, with an average yield of 2.66 tons/ha (in 2016 — 3.15 tons/ha);
  • rapeseed — 754 thousand hectares out of 786 thousand hectares were harvested, which constitutes 96%, 2.1 million tons of grain were threshed, with an average yield of 2.77 tons/ha (in 2016 — 2.64 tons/ha).

The highest yields of early grain and legume crops were recorded in Khmelnitsky — 5.66 tons/ha, Ivano-Frankovsk — 5.29 tons/ha, Ternopol — 4.92 tons/ha, Vinnitsa —  4.91 tons/ha, Chernovtsy — 4.89 tons/ha, and Lvov — 4.86 tons/ha regions.
