In September Ukraine exported 17k tons of sugar

For the first month of the current marketing year, Ukrainian producers exported 16.94 thousand tons of sugar.

This is reported by Ukrsugar.

The largest deliveries were made to Azerbaijan — 38%, Sudan — 16%, Tajikistan — 13%, Turkey — 8% and Sri Lanka — 7%.

According to Ruslana Butylo, head of the analytical department of the NASP Ukrsugar, the current marketing year started not so actively as the past one due to unfavorable market conditions.

"In the same period of the last marketing year, 39.9 thousand tons of sugar were exported. This year, this indicator is by more than 2 times kess due to several factors. First of all, this is the start of the sugar season, which was 2 weeks late due to unfavorable weather conditions in spring and summer. Another reason is not quite favorable situation in the international market," Ruslana Butylo notes.

According to the Association's estimates, in 2017/18 MY sugar export will be about 500 thousand tons, while production will remain at the level of the previous year — about 2 million tons.

According to the results of 2016/17 MY, domestic sugar producers exported a record 767.3 thousand tons of sugar, and Sri Lanka became the largest importer of Ukrainian sugar.
