In Ukraine 18% of logistics costs are associated with wheat delivery from field to port

About 18% of logistics costs in Ukraine are connected with the delivery of wheat directly from field to port, whereas in France and Germany, for example, this figure is only 8%, in the US — 6%.

This was stated by Oleg Nivievsky, the adviser on agrarian policy of the World Bank Group in the framework of the agro-logistic forum Dnieper-Danube-Black Sea, reports APK-Inform.

"About 20% is for the delivery of grain from the elevator to the port, whereas in France and Germany, these costs amount to 13-14%. In turn, in the US, they account for up to 22% of all logistics costs," the expert said.

The higher, according to the analyst, is the cost of wheat delivery from the field to the elevator, which reaches 11-12% against 7-8% in France and 6-7% in Germany and the US.

At the same time, according to Oleg Nivievsky, the overall level of costs for grain logistics in Ukraine is slightly lower than in Russia.

Reference: in Germany and France river transportations make significant competition to a cargo transportation by road transport and by railway. Due to the low cost of transport by water, in the countries indicated, 40% to 50% of grain is transported by inland waterways.
