Ukraine in 9M 2017 exported meat products for US$ 271 million

The volume of meat products export in January-September 2017 increased by 1.5 times against the corresponding period of 2016 and amounted to US$ 271 million.

This is reported by Nikolai Pugachev, the deputy director of the National Scientific Center Institute of Agrarian Economics, NAAS corresponding member.

According to him, due to wide geographical diversification and consolidation in new sales markets, a positive trend continues to increase the volume of meat and by-products exports.

"In 2015 the position of the main importer of Ukrainian meat and by-products was kept by Russia. This year the supply to the markets of Europe and Asia prevailed," the expert notes.

It is noted that over 9M 2017, most of Ukrainian meat products were imported by Egypt (17.1%), the Netherlands (14.3%), Iraq (8.8%), Belarus (8.4%) and Azerbaijan (7, 6%). Hong Kong, Germany, Georgia and Kazakhstan also remain major importers.

"For 3Q 2017, exports to these countries made up about 74% of the total value of Ukrainian meat sold abroad," concluded Nikolai Pugachev.

Earlier it was reported that Ukraine in January-September 2017 exported 212.05 thousand tons of meat and poultry co-products for the amount of US$ 294.86 million.
