Vegetable oils transshipment in sea ports in January-October increased by 26%

The seaports of Ukraine in January–October 2017 provided for the transshipment of 4.71 million tons of vegetable oils, which is 26.16% more than for the same period last year.

USPA infrorms that the top 5 seaports in terms of vegetable oils transshipment are:

  • Nikolaev — 1,899.5 million tons (+21,88% compared to the same period last year);
  • Chernomorsk — 1,432.66 million tons (+34,96%);
  • Yuzhnyi — 1,097.49 million tons (+31,53%);
  • Odessa — 85.32 thousand tons (–20,39%);
  • Mariupol — 73.6 thousand tons (+20.66%).

Reference: the global production of sunflower oil in MY 2017/18, among 10 oilseed crops, accounts for 9% of the total volume (against 8% in MY 1997/98) and comes third in the world after soybean (62% vs. 55%) and rapeseed (11% vs. 12%).
