UN and NIBULON launched cooperation to improve food security in Egypt

Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) and the NIBULON Company signed a Memorandum of Cooperation on December 6 in Cairo (Egypt) to improve food security in Egypt.

The company informs that the ceremony of signing the Memorandum by Deputy General Director, Chief Representative of the FAO in the Middle East and North Africa Abdessalam Ould Ahmed and CEO of NIBULON Alexey Vadaturskiy was held within the framework of the forum Promoting Permanent Investments in Egypt's Food Security.

Within the framework of this cooperation, NIBULON will share its knowledge and experience by:

  • holding joint events and meetings organized with the FAO for storing grain, logistics and transportation;
  • the company's participation in the policy dialogue through industry associations, public-private working groups and other mechanisms;
  • identification of investment needs and opportunities in the grain sector.

Moreover, with the full support of the FAO representation in the country, the company will participate in industry trainings in Egypt and Serbia to improve grain storage and logistics for young professionals, international grain sampling standards and analyses for inspector services in Egypt.

"Today, NIBULON is ready to share its knowledge on increasing productivity at all levels of grain supply with the FAO and its partners so that we can move forward in achieving our common goal of a world without hunger," Alexei Vadaturskiy said.

Reference: The European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) on December 13 will consider the issue of a loan of USD 40 million for NIBULON. The loan is to support the expansion and modernisation of NIBULON's grain logistics infrastructure in 2018-19 including the construction of river terminals, transhipment crane, river fleet and Mykolaiv terminal enhancement.
