Export of agro and food products to the EU in Jan-Nov 2017 increased by 38%

The export of agrarian and food products from Ukraine to the EU countries for the first 11 months of 2017 increased by 38.2%, or by USD 1.4 billion, as compared to data for 2016. The export to the EU resulted in USD 5.2 billion.

Olga Trofimtseva, Ukrainian Agrarian Policy and Food Deputy Minister for European Integration, informed that in general the foreign trade turnover between Ukraine and the EU countries, by the results of January-November 2017, increased by 31.1%, or by more than USD 1.7 billion, as compared to the corresponding period of 2016. It amounted to USD 7.2 billion.

"We are pleased to note that the agreement on the free trade zone between Ukraine and the EU is working, and this is directly reflected in figures for the growth of our bilateral trade turnover in the agrarian and food sectors. We also hope that this positive trend will continue in the future, taking into account our active work in the field of approximation of the Ukrainian legislation to the EU standards," stressed Olga Trofimtseva.

The deputy minister added that for the whole 2016 the Ukrainian agrarian export to the EU countries amounted to USD 4.2 billion.

Reference: in total, the export of agro products from Ukraine over 11 months of 2017 reached USD 16 billion.
