In 2017 harvest of vegetables in Ukraine totaled 9.3 MT

Ukrainian agrarians in 2017 harvested 9.3 million tons of vegetable crops from 446.3 thousand hectares with a yield of 20.78 tons per hectare.

The Ministry of Agrarian Policy and Food of Ukraine informs that field vegetables were harvested in the amount of 8.7 million tons (94% of all vegetables) from 440.3 thousand hectares with a yield of 19.79 tons per hectare, greenhouse vegetables — 0.56 million tons (6%) from 6 thousand hectares with a yield of 92.91 t/ha.

It is noted that the potato harvest amounted to 22.2 million tons from 1.3 million hectares with a yield of 16.78 tons per hectare.

Harvest of crops is as follows:

  • cabbage — 1.6 million tons from 63.7 thousand hectares with a yield of 25.93 t/ha;
  • tomato — 2.26 million tons from 74.2 thousand hectares with a yield of 30.49 t/ha;
  • bulb onion — 0.97 million tons from 54.7 thousand hectares with a yield of 177.5 t/ha;
  • carrot — 0.84 million tons from 42.7 thousand hectares with a yield of 19.52 t/ha;
  • table beet — 0.84 million tons from 38.4 thousand hectares with a yield of 21.6 t/ha.

The major volume of vegetable crops was harvested in Kherson (1.26 million tons), Dnepropetrovsk (0.7 million tons), Kharkov (0.69 million tons), Kiev (0.57 million tons), Nikolaev (0.55 million tons ) and Lviv (0.51 million tons) regions.

Earlier it was reported that in 2017 Ukraine exported 17.59 thousand tons of potatoes for the amount of USD 3.44 million.
