Wheat exports from Ukraine in 2017/18 should decrease to 16.1 MT

The export potential of Ukrainian wheat in 2017/18 is projected at 16.1 million tons, which is 8.2% less than in the previous season, Agrotimes.net informs with the reference to APK-Inform analyst Elena Karasik.

According to her, the demand for Ukrainian wheat is growing among Asian countries.

"If last season the leading positions in the rating of importers were occupied by India, Egypt, Bangladesh, Indonesia and Thailand, this season it is likely that there will be certain adjustments," said Elena Karasik.

The expert added that Ukrainian wheat exports over the last 5 seasons increased 2.6 times (from 6.8 million tons in 2012/13 to 17.5 million tons in 2016/17), demonstrating the annual positive dynamics.

Reference: export of grain and oil seeds from Ukraine in 2017 amounted to USD 15.2 million.
