Tomato export in Jan-May declined 5%

In the period from January to May 2018, Ukraine exported 2.75 thou. tons of tomatoes for the amount of USD 4.11 million. The exported in the indicated period volume is 0.12 thou. tons less than over the corresponding period last year (2.87 thou. tons).

According to the data of the State Fiscal Service of Ukraine (SFS), the major importers of Ukrainian tomatoes are as follows:

• Belarus — USD 2.84 million (1.89 thou. tons);
• Poland — USD 1.26 million (0.84 thou. tons);
• Georgia — USD 2 thou. (1.37 tons).

Reference: tomato imports to Ukraine in 2017 exceeded the export of this product by 60%, as a result of which the balance of international trade in tomatoes remains negative in Ukraine.
