First million tons of grain harvested in Ukraine

As of June 22, 2018, Ukrainian agrarians harvested 1.1 million tons of new crop grains from 349 thou. hectares (with a productivity of 3.16 tons/ha).

The Ministry of Agrarian Policy and Food of Ukraine informs that by the reporting date the volumes of harvested crops are as follows:

  • winter wheat — 211 thou. tons from 73 thou. hectares (with the productivity of 2.91 tons/ha);
  • winter barley — 877 thou. tons from 269 thou. hectares (3.26 tons/ha);
  • peas — 13 thou. tons from 7 thou. hectares (1.79 tons/ha).

Harvesting of winter rapeseed is continuing, which is threshed on the area of 36.5 thou. hectares (with the productivity of 1.7 tons/ha). The volume of harvested crop reached 62 thou. tons.

Also, harvesting campaign started in Vinnytsia region.

Reference: on June 20, 2018, on the world wheat stock exchanges, there was an insignificant price adjustment after a sharp and prolonged decline the day before. After the projected decline in world production and demand increase, traders activated speculative purchases.
