Agriproducts exports in 1H 2018 worth of USD 8.6 bln

Exports of agricultural products in January-June 2018 remained at last year's level (–2%) and amounted to more than USD 8.6 bln. This is reported by Nikolai Pugachev, the deputy director of the National Scientific Center Institute of Agrarian Economics, NAAS corresponding member.

It is noted that the share of exports of agri-food products in the first half of the year 2018 exceeds 37%.

"The determinants in the commodity structure of domestic agri-food exports are grain crops, oilseeds, various fats and vegetable oils — mainly sunflower, as well as food and processing industry goods. Their cumulative share in agrarian exports is 88%," says Nikolai Pugachev.

In January-June 2018, as compared to last year's indicators for the corresponding period, the volume of exports of a number of food products increased, namely:

  • eggs — increased from 31 thou. tons to 48 thou. tons (in January-June);
  • peas — 54 thou. tons vs 1 thou. tons;
  • walnut — 19 thou. tons vs 12 thou. tons;
  • malt — 97 thou. tons vs 70 thou. tons.

In 1H 2018, the value of export deliveries increased for the following positions:

  • poultry meat — USD 241 mln vs USD 196 mln;
  • vegetable oil — USD 74 mln vs USD 45 mln.

Reference: for the first half of 2018, Ukraine imported agricultural products for the amount of USD 2.6 billion, which is USD 0.5 billion more (+23%) than in the first six months of the previous year.
