Deliveries of Ukrainian wheat to Turkey in 2017/18 amount to 480.2 thou. tons

In MY2017/18, Ukraine exported to Turkey 480.2 thou. tons of wheat and 167.6 thou. tons of barley. In addition, in October-July of MY2017/18, more than 1 million tons of Ukrainian corn were shipped to this country, APK-Inform writes.

"Export deliveries to Turkey are expected to reduce in the current season, which is already observed in the segments of barley and bran. At the same time, the volume of Turkey's purchases of wheat from Ukraine at the start of the new season slightly increased. According to the current data, in July 2018/19 the export of Ukrainian wheat in this direction stood at 18.2 thou. tons, which is 31% more than in July of the previous season (13.9 thou. tons)," the report says.

The USDA experts inform that in MY2018/19 Turkey should import 4.5 million tons of wheat against 6.4 million tons in the previous season (–30%). At the same time, the domestic production is also expected to decline to 19 million tons against 21 million tons a season earlier (–10%).

According to analysts, in the current season, Ukraine may act as one of the key suppliers of wheat to Turkey, taking into account the most optimal logistics of these supplies.
