Sugar production in Ukraine expected at 2 mln tons

The Ukrainian sugar production in the current marketing year is expected to be slightly less than 2 million tons, despite the reduction in the number of functioning plants, Pro-Consulting informs.

"In the current year, the production will remain at the same level, despite the reduction in the number of working plants. 42 enterprises reported their plans for the production season against 46 last season. We expect slightly less than 2 million tons of sugar produced this year," Anastasia Skibchuk, the analyst at Pro-Consulting, comments.

On September 4, The Verkhovna Rada adopted in the second reading the bill No. 4532 "On the Recognition as no Longer Valid of Certain Laws of Ukraine on the State Regulation of the Production and Sale of Sugar". This document abolishes the norms of the law "On State Regulation of Production and Sale of Sugar" as such which has not fulfilled its objectives.
