Ukrainian seaports reduced grain transshipment by 10% in Jan-Aug

In January-August 2018, the volume of grain transshipment in the seaports of Ukraine decreased by 9.54% as compared to the corresponding period in 2017 and amounted to almost 23.54 million tons.

According to the Ukrainian Sea Ports Authority (USPA), the top 3 seaports in terms of grain transshipment volumes are as follows:

  • Mykolaiv — 7.11 mln tons (+24.05% y-o-y);
  • Chernomorsk — 5.63 mln tons (+6.1%);
  • Odessa — 4.39 mln toms (–17.15%).

In the reporting period, the export shipments of grains declined by 11.44% to 22.52 million tons. Transit transshipment of grain increased 1.9 times to 401.01 thou. tons, whereas the domestic grain transportation grew by 65.93% to 614.35 thou. tons.

In January-July 2018, Ukrainian seaports handled 20.22 million tons of grain which is 8.75% less than during the relevant period last year.
