UPD: fire at the Delta Wilmar terminal under control

A fire brigade has brought under control the fire that started in the territory of the Delta Wilmar CIS plant in the village of Novi Biliari. There is no threat of fire spreading or explosion at the moment, Odessa Regional State Administration reports.

According to the State Emergency Service of Ukraine (SES) in Odessa region, the ignition of vegetable oil occurred in the premises of the compressor unit. At the fire site, the rescue team deployed the firefighting headquarters and relocated the oil tanks. The plant administration evacuated the personnel.

22 fire and rescue units and 75 rescuers were involved in the localization of fire. The total area of the fire is 1.5 thou. sq. m.

"As for the Delta Wilmar fire, I personally keep in touch with the SES. The situation is reported to be under control, there are no fatalities or injuries. There is no threat of fire spreading too. There are operational headquarters, the fire brigades are working smoothly and assure that they will bring the fire under control," says Maxim Stepanov, Chairman of Odessa Regional State Administration.

The cause of the fire is not yet determined.

No casualties are reported so far.
