Shipments of oilseed derived products reduced 8%

For the first 9 months of 2018, Ukraine exported oils and fats for the amount of USD 3.2 billion, which is 8% less than in the corresponding prior-year period. This is reported by Nikolai Pugachev, the deputy director of the National Scientific Center Institute of Agrarian EconomicsNAAS corresponding member.

“The key export product in this group is sunflower oil. It was exported for the amount of USD 2.9 billion, which is USD 0.3 billion less than in the first nine months of 2017,” the scientist noted.

India has traditionally been the major buyer of fats and oils of Ukrainian production. In 9 months of 2018, its share in the structure of Ukrainian exports of this type of products was 42%, which is more than 7% higher than the figure for the relevant period last year.

The share of the Ukrainian exports of these products to China is 7.7%, Iraq — 6.1%, the Netherlands — 5.5%, Italy — 5.4%, and Spain — 4.8%. Together, these six countries account for about 72% of the value of exports of oils and fats.

In January-September 2018, Ukraine exported oilseeds for the amount of USD 1 339 million, which is almost 3% more than in the corresponding period last year. Rapeseed held the leading position in terms of the export volumes. Export deliveries reached 1.7 million tons and were worth of USD 698 million. Supplies of more than 1.5 million tons of soybeans brought USD 600 million revenues to domestic crop producers. The export value of 25 thou. tons of sunflower seeds was more than USD 13 million.
