Ukraine's agribusiness received UAH 60 bln of investment in Jan-Sep

In January-September 2018, more than UAH 60 billion was invested in Ukraine’s agro-industrial sector. This was informed by Elena Kovaleva, the Deputy Minister of Agrarian Policy and Food of Ukraine, APK-Inform reports.

“According to the State Statistics Service of Ukraine, the total investment in the agro-industrial complex as a whole amounted to more than UAH 60 billion,” she said.

Elena Kovaleva noted that over UAH 45 billion of investments for the first 9 months of 2018 were made directly in agriculture.

According to the Deputy Minister, half of these funds were directed to projects in the livestock industry, including the construction of cattle breeding farms. Also, a significant part of the investment was received by projects in the field of pig production.

The main part of investments in crop production business was directed to the construction of elevators and storage facilities.

In the current year, investments in food and processing industries increased by almost 80%. In particular, about UAH 15 billion was invested in the development of baby food production and in the milk processing industry.

In January-November 2018, Ukrainian ports handled 737 thou. tons of cargo, 38% of which are presented by agricultural products.
