Ukrainian agroexport reached USD 18.8 bln in 2018 — Trofimtseva

In 2018, Ukraine’s foreign trade turnover in agricultural products reached more than USD 24.3 billion, of which USD 18.8 billion is agro-export. This was informed by the Deputy Minister of Agrarian Policy and Food of Ukraine on European Integration Olga Trofimtseva.

“By the results of 2018, Ukrainian agrarian exports improved by more than USD 880 million compared to 2017 and reached a new record of USD 18.8 billion. During this period, exports of agricultural products to the markets of Asia and the European Union have significantly increased. Ukrainian agricultural exports to Asia exceeded USD 8 billion, whereas exports of agricultural and food products to the EU countries is worth more than USD 6.3 billion,” Olga Trofimtseva noted.

According to her, last year, a large share of Ukrainian agricultural export was traditionally formed by grain crops contributing 38.4%, vegetable oil — 23.3%, and oilseeds — 10.2%.

“Among the export products that ensured the increase are corn, wheat, rapeseed, oilcake, meat and offal, various oils, tobacco and tobacco products, eggs, confectionery, etc.,” Olga Trofimtseva said.

The major buyers of Ukrainian agricultural and food products in 2018 are as follows:

  • India — USD 1.8 billion;
  • China — USD 1.2 billion;
  • the Netherlands — USD 1.2 billion;
  • Spain — USD 1.04 billion;
  • Egypt — USD 888.7 million.
