Soybean meal shipments from Ukraine up 60%

In September-December of the 2018/19 season, Ukraine exported a record volume of soybean meal — 163.5 thou. tons, which is almost 60% higher than the previous year's volume, UkrAgroConsult informs.

In December 2018/19, soybean meal exports amounted to 59.3 thou. tons against 47.3 thou. tons a month earlier, and 37.9 thousand tons in December last year.

There were no significant changes in the export structure of Ukrainian soybean meal in 2018/19. The key importers are as follows:

  • the EU countries — 56% of the total shipments;
  • Belarus — 21%;
  • Turkey — 11%;
  • Georgia — 10%.

“The most significant increase was provided by the EU countries imports. Moreover, in the first three months of the current season, Turkey purchased almost 62% more soybean meal than within the entire previous season,” the report says.

As previously reported, in 2018 Ukraine’s foreign trade turnover in agricultural products reached more than USD 24.3 billion, of which USD 18.8 billion is agro-export.
