UPI-AGRO sugar production reached 291 thou. tons

UKRPROMINVEST-AGRO (UPI-AGRO) sugar mills reported on 291 thou. tons of sugar output.

For the first time in history, two sugar mills of the company processed 2.19 million tons of sugar beet and produced 291 thou. tons of sugar, which accounts for 16 pct of Ukrainian production.

“A production technology improvement, in particular, the implementation of the unprecedented for Ukraine project of installation of ion-exchange columns for decalcification of beet juice, allowed the company to increase the production of 1st category sugar to 60 pct of the total volume and produce sugar of ICUMSA 30 colour,” the company noted.

Kryzhopil sugar factory set the industry record for the amount of sugar produced by a single enterprise. The factory produced 171 thou. tons of sugar, which, as the company emphasizes, is the highest volume for all 195 years of sugar production in Ukraine.

On January 31st, 2019, sugar factories finished the 150-day beet processing season.

As previously reported, sugar beet yield at UPI-AGRO farms amounted to 65 tons/hectare on 28.4 thou. hectares.
