Agro products shipments to EU in 2018 reached USD 6.3 bln

Over the three years of free trade with the European Union, Ukraine increased 1.5x its exports of agricultural products to the European Union compared with 2016 to USD 6.3 billion in 2018. This was informed by Nikolai Pugachev, the deputy director of the National Scientific Center Institute of Agrarian Economics, NAAS corresponding member.

Deliveries of Ukrainian agricultural products were carried out mainly to Spain, Poland, the Netherlands, Italy, Germany, Belgium and France. The share of these countries in the total exports amounts to 80 pct.

Revenues from grain crops trade in 2018 amounted to USD 2.2 billion, mainly due to the deliveries to Europe of 11.9 million tons of corn and 1.5 tons of wheat.

Export of oilseeds (mainly rapeseed and soybeans) amounted to USD 1.2 billion, the supply volume of vegetable oil totalled USD 900 million.

“The bulk share of the sum from the export of residues and wastes — USD 407 million — was provided by 2.1 million tons of sunflower cake shipments. In addition, last year the supply of fresh and dried leguminous vegetables (300 thou. tons) significantly increased, as well as poultry meat (105 thou. tons) and eggs (6 thou. tons) from Ukraine to the EU,” the expert noted.

Previously it was reported that the EU sugar export would not exceed 2 million tons in the coming years.
