Dairy export revenue dropped 19 pct
Dairy exports from Ukraine in Q1 2019 amounted to USD 53.9 million, 19 pct less from the prior year's comparative period, the Association of Milk Producers (AMP) informs with reference to the data of the State Fiscal Service of Ukraine (SFSU).
The structure of the exported products is as follows:
- milk and cream — 4 thou. tons for a total of USD 4.9 million (increased by 57.5 pct in physical terms and 26 pct in money terms). The main buyers are Libya — 32.9 pct, Moldova — 27.4 pct and Georgia — 14.9 pct of the total export structure;
- powdered milk and condensed milk — 9 thou. tons for the amount of USD 11.3 million (decreased by 22.9 pct in physical terms and by 13.6 pct in monetary terms). The main buyers are Israel — 13 pct, Armenia — 10 pct and Georgia — 7.6 pct;
- fermented milk products — 4 thou. tons worth USD 2 million (up 63.6 pct). The main importers are Kazakhstan — 41%, Moldova — 25.8 pct and Georgia —13.3 pct.
“Cheese exports decreased 14 pct from the previous year. 1.6 thou. tons of product were supplied to foreign markets. In monetary terms, supplies reached USD 5.9 million, 18.9 pct less from the corresponding period of 2018,” the Association noted.
The major importers of dairy products from Ukraine are Moldova — 32 pct, Kazakhstan — 26.4 pct and Egypt — 16.8 pct.
In March 2019, the average Dairy Price Index stood at 204.3 points, 11.9 points (6.2 pct) higher from February level.
