Bottled sunflower oil exports from Ukraine increased a quarter

In September-May 2018/19, exports of bottled sunflower oil from Ukraine increased by 26% from the corresponding indicator of the previous season, having reached 146 thousand tons of supplies, the APK-Inform consultancy reports.

"This category of products includes sunflower oil refined and raw in any type of packaging of different volumes, including PET containers, glass bottles, plastic and metal jerry cans, bag-in-box and others," the message says.

The major exporter of the Ukrainian product in the reporting period, as well as in the previous season, is Kernel with a 35% share in the total volume of shipments. Having increased exports by 2.5x, the company Suntrade (a Bunge Ukraine subsidiary) moved up with 18% from the fifth to the second place. As a result, Oliyar moved to the third position with a 9% share.

Thus, the top three exporters accounted for more than 60% of Ukrainian bottled sunflower oil supplies to foreign markets.

The main markets for these products in the reporting period are Lebanon, Israel, China, Palestine, the U.A.E. and the Netherlands.

According to USDA experts, global sunflower production in 2019/20 will drop to 50,95 million tons compared to a record 51,47 million tons in 2018/19.
