Ukraine to harvest a bumper wheat crop in 2019, Agritel forecast
8 July 2019, 11:47
In the current season, wheat production in Ukraine should reach 28.8 Mt in using an average yield of 4.36 t/ha vs 3.82 t/ha last year, Agritel reports.
The forecast for the average yield is 14.1 percent higher from the prior year's indicator.
"Once again, the competition will be stiff with Black Sea origins this season. Markets remain driven by the situation in the USA and persisting doubts about the output of corn. Another factor must be considered, the African swine fever could have an impact on the demand, a case has been detected in Bulgaria," Agritel exports note.
Earlier it was reported that the FAO Cereal Price Index averaged 173.2 points in June, up 6.7 percent (almost 11 points) from May and 3.8 percent higher than in June 2018.
