NIBULON enhanced inland waterways grain transportation by 40 pct

By the end of 2018/19, NIBULON transported 3.5 million tons of cargoes by the Ukrainian inland waterways, 40 percent higher from the previous season.

In the past marketing year, the volume of grain shipped for export exceeded 2.7 million tons, 38 percent higher from 2017/18.

"With the commissioning of the 140 m crane vessel, NIBULON MAX, the annual volume of cargo handling by the fleet will increase by 2-3 million tons per year, while the volume of cargo handling by the company's fleet itself — up to 4-5 million tons per year. Also, this vessel will give an opportunity to use river cargo fleet flexibly, acting as an accumulator in the absence of foreign ships," the company said.

As noted in the statement, for the entire period of operation, the shipping company NIBULON (since 2009), as of July 1, 2019, transported 14.9 million tons of cargoes by the inland waterways of Ukraine, and, consequently, removed almost 621 thousand trucks from the motorways.

Earlier it was reported that NIBULON forwarded 20 of its rail cars for grain loading to the Smotrych branch (Khmelnytsky region).
