Harvest Online 2019: winter wheat crop exceeds 10 mln t

As of July 12th, harvesting of early grain and leguminous crops has been carried out on the area of 4.5 million hectares (46 percent). The crop has reached 15.2 million tons of grain.

According to the Harvest Online 2019 project, the new crop volumes are as follows:

  • winter wheat — 10.2 million tons on 2.9 million hectares or 44 percent of the forecast;
  • barley — 4.5 million tons on 1.4 million hectares or 55 percent of the forecast;
  • peas — 480 thousand tons on 216 thousand hectares or 75 percent of the forecast;
  • winter rapeseed — 1.7 million tons on 767 thousand hectares or 59 percent of the forecast with the average yield of 2.2 t/ha (2018: 2.48 t/ha);
  • rye — 8 thou. tons on 3 thou. hectares  or 3 percent of the forecast;
  • oats — 3 thou. tons on 1 thou. hectares or 1 percent of the forecast.

The U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) experts have reduced the forecast for 2019/20 wheat production in Ukraine by 1 million tons vs. the June forecast. Analysts note that the forecast for wheat production has decreased for Ukraine and the EU as a result of heat waves and lack of precipitation.

The project is developed in partnership with Soufflet Agro Ukraine. Follow the updates with the Harvest Online 2019 project.
