Ukraine set a new sunflower oil shipment record

In September-June 2018/19, of sunflower oil exports reached a record high of 5.19 million tons (+14.5% compared to the previous year). The increase in shipments was driven by record harvests and domestic processing volumes, UkrAgroConsult reports.

"India remains a major importer with a market share of 36%. The volume of purchases decreased by almost 10%, while the demand from India remains high," analysts note.

In 2018/19, the markets of Namibia, Uruguay and Dominica were opened. Export growth to China (+62%), Iraq (+89%) and the Netherlands (+42%) was observed.

As previously reported, harvesting of early grain and leguminous crops in Ukraine was carried out on the area of 9.5 million hectares or 95%. The crop reached 36.8 million tons.
