Ukraine supplied second largest volume of flour to Lebanon

By the volume of flour supply to Lebanon, Ukraine is one of the key suppliers of this product to the country, the APK-Inform consultancy reports.

"The International Trade Center estimates prove that by the end of 2018 Ukraine took the second position among suppliers of products to this country with the shipment volume exceeding 4.6 thou. t. Turkey dominates flour supplies to Lebanon with 19.7 thou. t," the report says.

In addition to Turkey, the Netherlands, France and Germany compete with Ukraine in supplying Lebanon. But, in terms of price, Ukrainian products are the most attractive. By the results of 2018, the average cost of flour supplied from Turkey to Lebanon is estimated at USD 322 per ton, while Ukrainian flour cost USD 282 per ton.

Based on APK-Inform estimates, 475 tons of wheat flour were exported from Ukraine to Lebanon in July 2019, almost 3.5x more from the respective month a year earlier, 137 tons.

"In 2018/19, Lebanon joined the top 10 countries-importers of Ukrainian flour, having purchased more than 5.7 thou. t of the product (about 2% of total exports from Ukraine). This indicator is 36% higher from the previous season (4.2 thou. t)," analysts noted.

Since the start of 2019/20, as of August 28, Ukraine exported 7.62 mln t of grains and legumes.
