US released terms for imported from Ukraine meat and eggs
The USDA has announced requirements for exports of meat products (both livestock and poultry products) and eggs from Ukraine, the State Service of Ukraine on Food Safety and Consumer Protection (SSUFSCP) reports.
"Imported meat, poultry and egg products must be inspected by the Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS). FSIS inspection starts after the product is determined to meet the requirements of the U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) and the U.S. Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service (APHIS) at the U.S. border crossing point," the regulation reads.
It is stated that the CBP permit allows the cargo to reach the FSIS through the appropriate U.S. border crossing point.
Previously reported that in January-August 2019 Ukraine exported cattle meat (fresh or chilled and frozen) for the amount of USD 70.6 mln.
The key importers of meat in the reporting period are as followed:
- Belarus — USD 20.3 mln;
- Turkey — USD 8.7 mln;
- Azerbaijan — USD 41 thou.;
- others — USD 100 thou.
