The agricultural holding Ukrlandfarming chooses mineral fertilizers supplier not by brand name, but by the cost of 1 g of the active substance (a.s.), which allows saving millions of hryvnias.

"We took the cost of 1 liter or 1 kg of the product, counted the share of active substance in it, and received the cost per 1 g of a.s. Then we compared this indicator in different products and found out that some of them, having even more a.s. in its content, are still several times cheaper than other products. This approach has saved several million hryvnias on the purchase of micro- and macro-fertilizers. Yes, this method is not ideal and unambiguous, but it gives an opportunity to better estimate similar offers and similar products," explained Vladyslav Tyutyunnyk, Head of the Crop Production Department.

According to him, a similar approach is used with regard to plant protection products. When choosing a product, attention is paid to the content of active substance and its price in the product. Then the company chooses the necessary product for its economic rationality, having tested in advance in production processes. The a.s. recalculation method is more difficult to apply to PPPs, but it also saves money when evaluating similar products.

As a reminder, in 2019 Ukrlandfarming harvested early grains of three times higher quality than in 2018.
